  • pamela hunt, me, and ina may gaskin---june 2010

midwifery workshops (assistant, advanced, common sense and tradition, neonatal resuscitation) with ina may gaskin at the farm—for one week last summer, i had the privilege of studying under one of the foremost midwives in america.  ina may gaskin, midwife, author, and founder of the farm midwifery center, has been an instrumental force in the revitalization of midwifery in the united states.  she, along with many fantastic midwives at the farm, offers several week-long classes where women can either get their feet wet for the first time or hone already-developed skills.  if you think you may be interested in becoming a midwife, save up for one of her class weeks and check it out.  it’s expensive, but it’s worth it! the setting is very rustic, so be ready for walking and for delicious home-grown meals!
